As Marie Claire looks to broaden its royals coverage by featuring other royal families from around the world (like introducing you to the royals to watch in terms of impeccable style, the next generation of future queens, and dazzling royal weddings from years past), you can expect more coverage of the wardrobe and work of royal women like Princess Charlene of Monaco and her niece by marriage, the endlessly fascinating Charlotte Casiraghi, who both attended Monaco’s Rose Ball this weekend, hosted by none other than Christian Louboutin.

The “shimmering charity party for the stars” and the “glitziest and grandest occasion in Europe”—as Tatler put it—saw Charlene emerge in a stunning silver-pink Elie Saab jumpsuit, which was perfectly on theme, as this year’s Rose Ball was Disco Bal de la Rose Monaco. “The Christian Louboutin-hosted shindig took over Monte Carlo during the weekend and saw some of Europe’s fines grandes dames and beaux hommes rock up for a night of disco grooves,” the outlet writes. Even disco legend Gloria Gaynor performed hits like “I Will Survive” and “Never Can Say Goodbye,” People reports.

Charlene—a former Olympic swimmer and fashion devotee who is married to Monaco’s reigning monarch, Prince Albert—arrived clutching a bouquet of red and pink flowers decorated with miniature disco balls. “Arm in arm with her husband, Prince Albert, the pair made the usual splash among the photographers,” Tatler reports.

Charlene missed the Rose Ball last year, and Albert was joined by his sister, Princess Caroline of Hanover, who was, too, at the affair—more on her in a moment. Charlene dressed in Elie Saab for the occasion, “wearing a silver and rose-pink jumpsuit which glittered spectacularly,” Tatler writes. “Its glittery fabric was decorated with stripe motifs and complete with a plunging neckline and a fabric waist tie.” (The blog “Royal Couturier” noted that Charlene attended the party sans the ensemble’s cape component.)

Caroline wore a glittering black gown, cinched at the waist and with a skirt that gathered around her feet. Caroline’s gown also had a plunging neckline, and she too arrived holding a bouquet of flowers similar to her sister-in-law’s, complete with a peppering of disco balls. Caroline’s daughter Charlotte wore a silver sequin and silk dress paired with delicate diamond jewelry.

Charlotte has previously attended the Rose Ball with her husband, the French film producer Dimitri Rassam, but arrived solo this year as she and Rassam split two months ago after four years of marriage. Paris Match reports that Charlotte is dating again, evidenced by photos of Charlotte and writer Nicolas Mathieu taking a romantic stroll through the streets of the City of Lights before sitting on the terrace of a local café to enjoy a coffee.

The Rose Ball was established by Princess Grace of Monaco—formerly the Academy Award-winning actress Grace Kelly prior to marrying Monaco’s Prince Rainier in 1956—and the event now raises money for her charitable foundation following her death in a car accident in 1982. (It is named after her favorite flower, and the Princess Grace Foundation helps raise money for the next generation of performers to get their start in the arts, honoring Grace’s successful career in Hollywood.) “Each year, it sees the Monegasque royal family hosting the glamorous and the good from around the globe, with a special theme dictating the dress code,” Tatler reports.

Around 800 guests are typically invited to the party annually, which is chaired by Rainier and Grace’s eldest child, Caroline, each year.

<![CDATA[ Anne Hathaway Opens Up About Her Decision to Be Sober, Dealing with Anxiety, and Knowing She's Sexy ]]> Forget the "Hathahate" surrounding Anne Hathaway—it's long past time to celebrate this inspirational Hollywood actress. From Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada to Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries, she's earned a spot in rom-com royalty with her doe eyes, flirtatious grin, and reliable on-screen chemistry. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, she reminded readers of why she is so beloved, discussing her choice to be vegan, sober, and sexy.

One of Hathaway's greatest strengths is her willingness to open up about personal topics. Throughout the interview, she touched upon many vulnerabilities, including the subject of mental health. “I’d rather not be unseated on the day [of filming] by my anxiety,” Hathaway explained. “Part of the way I can tell myself that I am okay is by having such a complete level of preparation that if I get a critical voice in my head, you can quiet it down by saying that you did everything you could to prepare.”

This diligence not only helps her to avoid panic attacks but also ensures award-winning performances, such as her harrowing portrayal of Fantine in Les Misérables.

Hathaway recalled one occasion early in her career when her anxiety got the best of her on set, and she suffered a panic attack. “I had a horrible anxiety attack, and I was by myself and didn’t know what was happening," she said. "I certainly couldn’t tell anybody, and it was compounded by thinking I was keeping set waiting. Now I feel much safer going to someone in charge, pulling them to the side, and explaining, ‘I’m going through this right now.’ Most people will sit there with you for the 10 minutes it takes for you to come back down.”

Anne Hathaway 2024 Film Independent Spirit Awards

Another area of her life discussed in the interview was her decision to stop drinking. Hathaway has been sober for five years now and stands firm in this decision. She joins the ranks of other openly sober celebrities, including Lucy Hale, Drew Barrymore, Tom Holland, and Chrissy Teigen. “I knew deep down it wasn’t for me,” she explained. “And it just felt so extreme to have to say, ‘But none?’ But none. If you’re allergic to something or have an anaphylactic reaction to something, you don’t argue with it. So I stopped arguing with it.”

Hathaway confirmed that this doesn't stem from a place of self-righteousness or judgment, but rather learning to choose what's best for her. “It’s a path everybody has to walk for themselves,” she said. “My personal experience with it is that everything is better. For me, it was wallowing fuel. And I don’t like to wallow. The thing that I have faith in is that everybody else is going to have one or two drinks, and by the time everybody gets to two drinks, you’ll feel like you’ve had two drinks—but without the hangover.”

Nicholas Galitzine and Anne Hathaway

One of the most shocking revelations was that Hathaway was not considered "sexy" enough for Hollywood. Luckily, she knew herself well enough to dismiss these claims. “I was like, ‘I’m a Scorpio. I know what I’m like on a Saturday night,'" the actress joked. “The male gaze was very dominant, very pervasive, and very juvenile.”

This certainty in herself has grown over the years and led Hathaway to her latest role in The Idea of You. Hathaway plays Solène, a 40-year-old single mother who begins dating a 24-year-old musician. The musician, Hayes Campbell (played by Nicholas Galitzine), is part of a world-famous boy band, seemingly inspired by One Direction. The novel that the film is based on has been applauded for its sex positivity and depiction of female pleasure. “I feel ready to be a sexual creature out loud,” Hathaway explained of her decision to take the role.

“It’s not like one healthy, consensual female orgasm (okay, multiple) is going to change the world,” Hathaway joked. “But I’m really happy to be part of a story that takes pleasure in female pleasure.”

<![CDATA[ Meghan Markle Looks to Break Into the Beauty Space, Intending to Sell Fragrance, Makeup, Candles, and More with Lifestyle Brand American Riviera Orchard ]]> Meghan Markle just submitted papers to trademark the initials of her new business American Riviera Orchard—announced on March 14—and in the trademark application extension we got another very exciting clue about the forthcoming business: it intends to break into the beauty market, as well.

Part of the updated trademark application includes items for sale like soaps, creams, bath oils, gels, and salts. Also included are scented oils, air fragrance reed diffusers, incense, and “non-medicated veterinary grooming preparations such as pet shampoos and conditioners,” The Sun reports.

Meghan Markle

New paperwork filed on behalf of Meghan's American Riviera Orchard confirm her interest in dipping into the beauty market. (Image credit: Getty Images)

The list of beauty products the company is requesting trademark for is extensive but interesting, so please oblige us: fragrance sachets, lavender sachets, non-medicated skincare preparations, bath and shower gels and salts, non-medicated hair preparations, bath soap, bar soap, non-medicated hand soaps, body creams, bath oil, body lotions, cosmetics and body oil, scented oils, air fragrance reed diffusers, fragrances, room fragrances, incense, and candles made the cut.

In addition to expanding its product offerings, American Riviera Orchard is also seeking its CEO; The Daily Mail’s Richard Eden reports that Meghan is “interviewing candidates” to head up the brand.

The list of product offerings American Riviera Orchard is seeking to trademark is extensive and exhausting, and we're here for all of it. (Image credit: Getty Images)

“Meghan will certainly see success quickly once the store is launched,” brand expert Hayley Knight told The Daily Mail. “We have seen with previous celebrity launches that the demand is incredibly high, and products sell quickly.”

Going deeper into the product offerings (get ready for this!), for the household: household linen, bedspreads, bed blankets, pillowcases, bedsheets, bedskirts, throws, bath linen, interior decoration fabrics, curtains, textile wall hangings, aprons, woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, felt and non-woven textile fabrics, and table linen of fabric or textile made the list.

The brand's name is a likely callout to Santa Barbara, where Meghan and her family now live; it is referred to as the "American Riviera." (Image credit: Getty Images)

For the kitchen and food serving specifically, cocktail napkins, picnic blankets, coasters of textile, textile tablecloths, kitchen towels, kitchen linens, and printed cookbooks and recipe books were added, as were beach towels, beach blankets, scarves, gift wrap of textile or fabric, ribbons of textile materials, ornamental bowls of textile for decoration, beads for crafting, floormats, meditation mats, bath mats, yoga bolsters, meditation cushions, yoga blankets, meditation blankets, yoga straps, wallpaper, wall coverings of textile, decorative wall hangings, string bags for shopping, tote bags, leashes for pets, collars for pets, beach umbrellas, wine carrying cases, and wine bags with handles for carrying or holding wine.

Meghan Markle

The product offerings are just a start, as the brand is expected to turn into a Netflix show, a book, a blog, and possibly even brick-and-mortar stores. (Image credit: Getty Images)

(Hang with us here—but isn’t this fascinating?) American Riviera Orchard also looks to extensively sell paper products, like stationary sets, blank notecards, envelopes, printed notecards, printed holiday cards, printed greeting cards, printed place cards, printed announcement cards, printed invitations, printed recipe cards, embossers for paper stationary, seals, impression stamps, blank journals, blank paper notebooks, personalized writing journals, printed guestbooks, stationary-type portfolios, printed day planners, printed calendars, printed desktop planners, printed diaries, personal organizers, printed address books, paper party decorations, party ornaments of paper, printed decorative paper, paper tape, wrapping paper, gift wrapping ribbons of paper, and paper gift tags. In this vein, letter openers, gift bags, gift boxes, gift wrap of fabric or textile, calligraphy pens, writing instruments, desktop organizers, letter trays, event albums, photo albums, decorative cords, drawer organizers, and picture frames will be offered.

Rounding out the (exhaustive!) list is pillows, pillows for household pets, beds for household pets, household décor made primarily of textiles, and outdoor furniture. Whew! The updated application also sought to trademark American Riviera Orchard’s logo. (Now, just because it’s listed in a trademark application doesn’t mean it will 100 percent be made into a product, but gosh, we hope it does.)

Meghan Markle

Expect to see Meghan more and more in the public eye as the brand launch rolls out. (Image credit: Getty Images)

This update comes after an already extensive list of items was included in the original trademark application; this full-scale lifestyle brand is going to be bigtime and will eventually coincide with a cooking show on Netflix (aligned with Meghan and Prince Harry’s ongoing deal with the streaming giant), a book, a blog, and possibly even brick-and-mortar stores, in addition to retailing online.

We’re ready for it all!

<![CDATA[ Penn Badgley Spotted Filming the Fifth and Final Season of ‘You’ in NYC ]]> New York City, beware: everyone's favorite serial killer is back on set. Penn Badgley was spotted filming the newest season of You on the streets of NYC. Dressed in a maroon polo shirt, a black peacoat, and navy slacks, Badgley looked ready for action. Keen-eyed fans even spotted a gold band on his left finger, which may hint at a possible marriage in the upcoming season. His pensive expression also suggests that this shot will be used for one of his character's signature internal monologues.

Based on Caroline Kepnes's bestselling novels, the Netflix original series follows Joe Goldberg (played by Badgley) as love quickly turns to obsession over and over again. At the end of season four (spoiler alert!), Joe reclaims his identity and returns to his beloved New York City, now with Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) at his side. This leaves the next season to follow in the footsteps of the first season in NYC, a perfect full-circle moment.

Netflix also confirmed that filming had started in an Instagram post. “Back to where it all began. the 5th and final season of YOU is now in production,” the streaming giant declared.

But when it came to announcing the news on X, Netflix went with a classic Gossip Girl style post: "Spotted: Joe Goldberg in New York City. The 5th and final season of YOU is now in production."

This is a reference to Badgley's five seasons in Gossip Girl as outsider Dan Humphreys, which many consider to be the role that put him on the map.

Season four was released one year ago in March 2023, and no date has been confirmed for the release of season five. But with cameras already rolling, the wait shouldn't be too long.

Badgley teased fans at the 2023 TUDUM event about what to expect from the final season. “I've heard you're on the edge of your seats, waiting and theorizing about the epic conclusion to You," he said in a pre-recorded message. "More importantly, considering what, or should I say who, Joe will come up against as he finally returns to New York. Though I can't say who yet. We all know there are many loose ends in Joe's past. The question is: Who are you?"

<![CDATA[ Stephen Colbert Finally Addresses His Crass Joke About Kate Middleton, Prince William, and Rose Hanbury—But Stops Short of Apologizing ]]> Two weeks after leveling a crude joke at the Princess of Wales’ expense about her husband Prince William’s nonexistent affair with family friend Rose Hanbury, The Late Show host Stephen Colbert has addressed the matter—while still stopping short of apologizing—following Kate’s announcement that she has been diagnosed with cancer and amid outcry to do so from the public.

Kate Middleton

Speaking on his show, Colbert issued an apology of sorts: “You know, folks, I don’t know if you have noticed, but we do a lot of shows and I tell a lot of jokes, and I tell jokes about a lot of different things, mostly what everybody’s talking about,” he said. “And for the last six weeks to two months, everybody has been talking about the mystery of Kate Middleton’s disappearance from public life. And two weeks ago, we did some jokes about that mystery and all of the reporting about that. And when I made those jokes, that upset some people and—even before her diagnosis was revealed, and I can understand that. I mean, a lot of my jokes have upset people in the past. And I’m sure some of my jokes will upset people in the future. But there is a standard that I try to hold myself to. And that is, I do not make light of somebody else’s tragedy.”

Colbert added “I don’t know whether her prognosis is a tragic one,” noting that Kate is the future Queen of England and will be getting the best care possible. “Regardless of what it is,” he said, Colbert said he knows “that any cancer diagnosis is harrowing for the patient and for the family.” He concluded “And though I’m sure they don’t need it from me, I and everyone here at The Late Show would like to extend our well-wishes and heartfelt hope that her recovery is swift and thorough.”

Colbert's joke revived the all but dead Hanbury affair rumors, which began in 2019. (Image credit: Getty Images)

Colbert’s joke on March 12—which will not be reprinted here—brought the near-dead Hanbury rumors back to the fore after they had all but disappeared. Even before Kate’s announcement of her health condition Friday, Hanbury’s legal team threatened legal action against Colbert, writing in a statement “The rumor appears to have entered into the mainstream media recently as a result of another joke made about it on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. We have written on our client’s behalf to CBS and various other reputable media organizations to confirm that the allegation is false.”

Hanbury herself also spoke out against the rumors for the first time since its origin in 2019, telling Business Insider this month that any and all allegations of an affair with William “are completely false.”

<![CDATA[ Kim Kardashian and Odell Beckham Jr. Reportedly Call It Quits After 6 Months of Dating ]]> Six months after being romantically linked, Kim Kardashian and Odell Beckham Jr. have reportedly ended their whirlwind romance. “They’re not seeing each other anymore right now,” a source revealed to The Daily Mail.

Though this suggests a definitive end to the relationship, no reason for the separation has been offered at this time.

Beckham Jr. and Kardashian were first rumored to be dating in September 2023. Last month, they were spotted out in public for the first time at a luxury hotel ahead of the Super Bowl in Las Vegas. Later, they apparently labeled their relationship as exclusive.

Things seemed to be getting serious for the pair. Beckham Jr. had left the Baltimore Ravens and was supposedly considering moving to the Kansas City Chiefs to be a bit closer to Kardashian, who lives in L.A. (Taylor Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce, is another famous member of this team.)

"Odell is a free agent and is looking to sign with a team that will get him closer to L.A. to be closer to Kim," a source told The Daily Mail at the time.

Kardashian also seemed to be keen on moving the relationship forward. Just four days ago, Life and Style reported that the pair were getting more serious. “Now that the cat’s out of the bag and they’re going more public with the relationship, and things are feeling solid, Kim’s starting to plan a future with him,” an insider told the publication.

She was even considering expanding her family with Beckham Jr., they said. “She wants another child, and she loves the idea of having a baby with Odell," the source continued.

Kardashian already shares four children with her ex-husband Kanye West: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. Beckham Jr. has one child, Zydn, with his ex-girlfriend Lauryn Wood.

Despite these steps, Jenner-Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner confirmed that her daughter had no plans to wed again at this moment. "All of us are having fun, and we have no marriage plans—yet,” Jenner told People at a charity event, referring to herself, Kendall Jenner, and Kardashian.

Kardashian and Beckham Jr. were last spotted together at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party, where they briefly spoke on the red carpet. Soon after, Kardashian departed to Chateau Marmont for Jay-Z and Beyonce's post-Oscars party, and Beckham Jr. left soon after, supposedly to the same destination.

The news of this split is also making fans rethink Kardashian's recent Instagram post. The reality star shared a selfie with the cryptic caption, "Miss u." At the time, many assumed she was referring to her new flame, but now they wonder if this was a post-breakup hint.

This isn't the only Instagram post getting a lot of attention at the moment. Kardashian is receiving criticism from fans for a recent post that featured a photo of herself and the caption, "On my way to find Kate."

Kardashian was referring to Kate Middleton and the speculation surrounding her lack of appearances. On Friday, the Princess of Wales announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing preventative chemotherapy. Since then, many have apologized for their jokes on the matter, including Blake Lively, who referenced it in promotion for her brands Betty Buzz and Betty Booze. Kardashian has yet to address the matter, despite the many comments urging her to apologize.

“After the news of her having cancer has been revealed, you should really take this down. It’s extremely insensitive and you owe our princess an apology,” one wrote.

“I think an apology is needed!” another individual posted. “Can you please go find an apology instead??”

“Didn’t age well. You never know what someone is battling,” one user commented.

<![CDATA[ Suki Waterhouse and Robert Pattinson Welcome Their First Child Together ]]> From Twilight to parenthood, Robert Pattinson is now a proud father. He and Suki Waterhouse have just welcomed their first child together and subtly announced it to the world during a walk in L.A. with their little bundle of joy. Waterhouse remained as stylish as she had been throughout her pregnancy, wearing a long black coat, white cap, and shades. The couple was accompanied by Waterhouse's mother, Elizabeth.

There's no news yet on the baby's name, exact birth date, or the gender. This is unsurprising, as the pair has always leaned towards privacy in their relationship. Waterhouse and Pattinson have been together for over five years but only made their red carpet debut in December 2022 at the Dior’s Men’s Fall show in Giza, Egypt.

Pattinson explained this desire for privacy to The Sunday Times: "If you let people in, it devalues what love is," he said. "If a stranger on the street asked you about your relationship, you’d think it extremely rude. If you put up a wall, it ends up better.”

Pattinson is known for his varied film roles, including Edward Cullen in Twilight and Batman in the most recent remake of the superhero classic; Waterhouse is a triple threat, known for her modelling, acting, and singing. Most recently, she played Karen Sirko in Daisy Jones and the Six, a miniseries on Amazon Prime based off of the novel of the same name.

On an episode of the "Drive Minds: A Type 7" podcast, Waterhouse revealed that she and Pattinson moved in together only last April and that she feels "very lucky" to have a partner like him.

"[The move] doesn't feel like that much of a crazy thing," she said. "And I'm very lucky because he is so accepting of the mess and the chaos. He never says anything about it. He kind of thinks it's like, charming. So I'm very lucky for that."

Robert Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse engagement rumors

According to People, the couple has been engaged since December 2023. “They are engaged. They both want to be married. It’s important for them,” a source said, adding that Pattinson was "so ready" to become a father. Waterhouse and Pattinson haven't commented on the engagement, but she's been spotted in a Toi et Moi ring, estimated to cost around $330,000.

Earlier this year, Waterhouse told The Times how happy she is with Pattinson. "[I'm] shocked that I'm so happy with someone for nearly five years," she said, adding that he still gives her butterflies. "I'm always incredibly excited when I see his name pop up [on my phone] or even a text, and I think he feels the same about me," she said.

<![CDATA[ Sydney Sweeney Admits She Only Needs About Two Hours of Sleep Per Night—and Has Never Tried Coffee ]]> There are some famous actresses that prefer, you know, 14 hours of sleep—and then there’s Sydney Sweeney, who told WSJ. Magazine that not only can she function off “very, very little” sleep—think two hours a night—but that she’s never tried coffee. Wait—what?

“I sleep however many hours I get in a night, but I’m known for being able to function off of very, very little for a very long amount of time,” she said.

Sydney Sweeney

Sweeney has lived three lifetimes in the month of March with a busy press schedule, international travel, and, you know, debuting a film. (Image credit: Getty Images)

In addition to confirming that she actually might not be human, Sweeney detailed her breakfast, exercise, and beauty routine to the magazine, adding in the jaw-dropping detail that “I’ve never tried coffee before,” she said. “I just drink water. For breakfast, I like a berry bowl. Maybe some granola, bacon, a croissant—but I always go to berries.”

Just in the month of March alone, Sweeney hosted Saturday Night Live, flew to Europe for Paris Fashion Week, cut her hair into a bob, went to the Vanity Fair Oscars after party, released a film (the horror movie Immaculate)—and that’s not even all, and the month isn’t even over. And this woman is out here, jet-setting and making moves, on 120 minutes’ worth of sleep and no coffee. Maybe her beauty routine helps explain why she looks so great, regardless: “I love to do a face mask,” she told the outlet. “I like these 111Skin face masks.”

Sydney Sweeney

As if her jam-packed schedule wasn't enough, Sweeney is doing all of this on apparently very little sleep. (Image credit: Getty Images)

When she’s got downtime, she’s chilling on the couch and reading a book, and when it comes to working out, “I like this place called SolidCore,” she said. “It’s a full-body high-intensity workout but on a reformer, and it’s been killing my ass. I love it.” At home, as far as beauty goes, “I’m pretty simple if I’m not working,” Sweeney said. “I’m either a blush-and-mascara kind of girl or nothing at all.”

Despite her success, Sweeney admitted she is frugal, telling WSJ. Magazine “I love a good deal,” saying that she’s a penny pincher everywhere but one area—throwing parties. “I like to splurge on parties,” she said. “I like to host parties for my friends and family.”

In her career—from The Handmaid’s Tale to Euphoria, The White Lotus, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Anyone But You, and a short stint on Pretty Little Liars—Sweeney has conquered drama, comedy, and now, with Immaculate, horror. Armed with what she told WSJ. Magazine is her motto—“Don’t take no for an answer”—what does she hope is next? “Fantasy,” she said.

With Immaculate, Sweeney was not only the film’s lead, but a producer—and Entertainment Tonight reports she celebrated the ability to have a seat at the table and “take action.” In her role as producer, Sweeney was able to “be a part of the conversation, be at the table, be at the head of the table,” she said. The film has been over a decade in the making; she originally auditioned for it as a teenager before the project was shelved, but the movie remained a priority for her to finish.

“It has been a passion project,” she said. “I just couldn't stop thinking about it. I saw the movie in my head. I was so attracted to the character and her journey and pushing myself to new limits with that and I loved it.”

<![CDATA[ One of Princess Kate’s Secret Weapons During This Difficult Time? Her Sister, Pippa Middleton Matthews ]]> It was nearly 13 years ago when the world collectively became familiar with Pippa Middleton; as the maid of honor at her older sister Kate’s April 29, 2011, wedding to Prince William, Pippa held the train of Kate’s stunning Alexander McQueen wedding gown up and supported her sister as she walked down the aisle at Westminster Abbey. Now, as Kate battles cancer, Pippa is still holding her sister up and supporting her as she walks through this unexpected health crisis, The Sun reports.

Kate will rely on her younger sister Pippa during this moment in her life, the outlet reports, and royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said the “strong” bond between the two sisters—as well as the rest of their immediate family, parents Michael and Carole Middleton and brother James—will be “absolutely pivotal” to Kate right now.

“We know that she’s [Kate] got a very close and support[ive] family, and secondly, that the support is under the radar,” Fitzwilliams said. “The Middletons are clearly a very, very important part of her and William’s life. At the moment, absolutely pivotal, I would say. We know that there is a tremendously strong bond between her mother [and] her parents, also siblings, and also that they live in close proximity or relatively close proximity. So yes, absolutely, I think that this is important.”

He added “I think the Middletons will be her rock, and they will be also tremendously helpful, and especially regarding the children,” referring to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Kate and Pippa, two-and-a-half years apart in age, have always been close, from their childhood to sharing an apartment in London’s fashionable Chelsea in their twenties to Pippa now living not far from Kate’s home, Adelaide Cottage, on the Windsor Estate. (Pippa married James Matthews in 2017, and they share three children themselves, Arthur, Grace, and Rose. The Matthews family lives in Berkshire, where she and Kate spent a significant part of their childhood.)

“Growing up, the sisters bonded over a love of exercise and sport,” The Sun reports. “Both attended Marlborough College where they enjoyed hockey, tennis, and athletics.” Speaking to The Telegraph in 2018, their mother, Carole, said that the girls helped out with the family business, Party Pieces: “Catherine was on the cover of one of the catalogues, blowing out candles,” Carole said. “Later on, she did some styling and set up the First Birthday side of the business. Pippa did the blog. I still value their ideas and opinions.”

When both Kate and Pippa went off to university, both chose to study in Scotland, Kate at the University of St. Andrews and Pippa at Edinburgh. After graduating, they shared a home in Chelsea together, Kate working at Jigsaw and Pippa working in events and public relations. “The pair were often spotted enjoying London’s nightlife and pictured going to the fashionable clubs of the day,” The Sun writes.

Upon Kate’s engagement to William in 2010 and their subsequent wedding in 2011, “It’s all Kate, Kate, Kate for the moment, because [Pippa is] her closest ally and, genuinely, they are best friends,” a source told The Daily Mail at the time. “But even if they weren’t, Kate would struggle to trust anyone who wasn’t family.”

After Kate’s wedding, Pippa shot to fame, and wrote in the foreward to her 2012 book Celebrate “It’s a bit startling to achieve global recognition before the age of 30 on account of your sister, your brother-in-law, and your bottom. One day I might be able to make sense of this. I certainly have opportunities many can only dream of. But in most ways, I’m a typical girl in her twenties trying to forge a career and represent herself in what can sometimes seem rather strange circumstances.”

Today, Pippa and her husband James run the Bucklebury Gift and Farm Shop in the Berkshire countryside, near to her £15 million country home. The couple bought the 77-acre site in 2020 with plans to turn it into a commercial enterprise, The Sun reports. “The farm shop is already equipped with a petting zoo, a café, and cabin accommodation for 30 guests [as] well as provision[s] to host birthday parties and tractor rides,” the outlet writes.

Pippa said in 2014 that she and Kate “spend a lot of time together” despite the “pressures” Kate faces: “We still do a lot together as a family and I think that’s really the heart for all of us is having a really close family that we can sort of be normal with each other, treat each other normally,” Pippa said. “And that’s sort of kept us all, you know, affixed to the ground.”

Pippa also said she calls Kate whenever she likes for a bit of “girl talk” and that they have a “normal, sisterly relationship.”

“We’re very close,” Pippa said. “And, you know, we support each other and get each other’s opinions and things.” Of Kate’s wedding—perhaps one of the most watched in this generation—“It sounds funny to say, but we saw it as just a family wedding,” Pippa said. “And actually, I didn’t realize, perhaps, the scale of it until afterwards. We all took on the roles as any family would.”

That continues today. Kate and Pippa frequently attend Wimbledon together, sitting in the Royal Box at the famed tennis tournament; Pippa also regularly attends Kate’s Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey each December and now will support her sister as she fights cancer. “The three siblings are incredibly tight,” a source told The Times. “Pippa not only as a sister but as a best friend she can confide in. They are extremely loyal to one another.”

As Kate continues recovery, sources speaking to The Sun said that Kate will “come back stronger” than ever from this. No doubt Pippa will be by her side through it all.

<![CDATA[ Turns Out Queen Camilla Is Exactly What the Royal Family Needs Right Now ]]> In the unprecedented times that mark the modern day British royal family, no one could have ever predicted the landscape that is currently before us: King Charles, the Princess of Wales, and the Duchess of York all battling cancer; the Duke and Duchess of Sussex living an ocean away in the United States; and Queen Camilla the stable and steady anchor who, alongside Prince William, Princess Anne, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, is holding it all together during the tumult.

Once considered perhaps the most reviled woman in the U.K., if someone had said 30 years ago that the former Camilla Parker-Bowles would not only be married to Charles but referred to as Queen and considered one of the hardest-working members of the royal family—well, there would be many, many speechless people. But it’s true, and Camilla is meeting the moment with her trademarked work ethic, grace, dignity, consistency, stability, and sense of humor and—who knew?—was apparently exactly what the monarchy needed all along, and especially so in times such as these.

William once had a strained relationship with his stepmother for obvious reasons—Camilla was “the other woman” in the marriage between then Prince Charles and Princess Diana, William’s parents. Though Camilla can’t take all of the blame for the collapse of Charles and Diana’s marriage, she certainly can take a fair share of it, and while stepparent to stepchild relationships are hard anywayjust ask Gwyneth Paltrow—this one was especially so. Not so anymore, The Mirror reports; the outlet said that William has a renewed appreciation for his stepmother as he “can see Queen Camilla is exactly what [the] royal family needs right now,” the outlet writes.

“Camilla is as stoic as she is forgiving,” royal biographer and editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine Ingrid Seward said. “Kate’s illness has brought her closer to William, who once disliked her intensely. Even up to her marriage to his father, both William and [Prince] Harry begged ‘Pa’ not to marry Camilla. Thank goodness he did.”

Seward added “Her cheerfulness and her open-hearted approach to people and events are exactly what the monarchy needs right now. William can see that, and he must be very grateful to her. Not only is she keen on keeping his father calm, but she is, in her way, keeping the country calm, too. Always smiling and giving a cheery report on the progress of Charles and her stepdaughter-in-law [Kate]. She is exactly what we all need right now.”

Tatler reports that Camilla is “proud” to shoulder royal duties in the absence of Charles and Kate, and a royal source told The Telegraph that “Queen Camilla is proud, resilient, and devoted, and if it serves the King and the nation to step up and serve the nation, she will do it.”

She will do so this Thursday as she makes history as the first-ever consort to distribute Maundy money on behalf of a monarch when she attends the annual Royal Maundy Service without the King.
